Goodly Foods was founded in 2018 with the goal of making healthy and tasty food from surplus natural ingredients while supporting their community through inclusive hiring. Over the years, they have become an independent social enterprise that distributes food nationally, and provides accessible employment with fair compensation to people experiencing barriers. So far, they have produced 225,700 litres of soup from 116,977 kilograms of produce, and provided 19,924 hours of supported employment. Like Mission Possible, inclusive employment is at the core of what Goodly does.
Mission Possible first connected with Goodly in 2022, and since then, Goodly has become an Impact Partner that hires our graduated associates! MP graduates demonstrate commitment, reliability, dedication, and attention to detail. They also understand the value of perseverance and community-focused work, possessing unique skills that have helped them overcome difficult obstacles. Aart Schuurman Hess, Goodly’s CEO, shares, “It is great to work with organizations which are aligned in mission and respect in the workplace. Together we can help more people, building more trust and providing more opportunities to those who face barriers to traditional employment.”
Just this past May, three of our graduated associates, Oscar, Rob, and Emma, joined Goodly’s team as Kitchen Assistants where they prep the natural produce used in their soups. Aart is happy to report that they are “motivated and willing to roll up their sleeves.” When placed in a respectful and dignified workplace, such as Goodly, people thrive, and we’re all so glad to see that Oscar, Rob, and Emma have embraced Goodly’s culture that fosters camaraderie and support.
Goodly Foods’ support as an Impact Partner is helping Employment Readiness Program graduates continue on their journey of building a sustainable livelihood. We are so grateful for this partnership with Goodly, and are glad to be working with them to reduce food waste, increase food security, and further inclusive hiring in our community.
